SBOE to meet Nov. 15-18

AUSTIN – The State Board of Education will meet in Austin Nov. 15-18. Because of the Veterans Day Holiday, the public registration period will open Thursday, Nov. 10, which is one day earlier than usual.
Registration will be open from 8 a.m. Thursday through 5 p.m. Monday.

Agenda items of interest include:
· Proposed adoption of 500 new instructional materials for the following areas: career and technical education, languages other than English, Special Topics in Social Studies, Algebraic Reasoning and Statistics;
· Revisions to the charter Bond Guarantee Program;
· Updates to educator certification rules; and
· Discussions about proposed revisions to the English and Spanish Language Arts and Reading Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and science TEKS.
