The board of trustees of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is comprised of nine members. Two of the members are appointed by the governor, subject to confirmation by two-thirds of the senate, from lists of nominees submitted by the State Board of Education (SBOE). This item provides an opportunity for the SBOE to approve a list of nominees for an appointment to the board of trustees of the TRS to be transmitted to the governor. The six-year term of office of the governor's appointee will expire on August 31, 2021. The list of nominations from SBOE members for the board of trustees of the TRS will be distributed at the meeting. Statutory authority for this action is the Texas Government Code, §825.003.

3. Public Hearing on the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency
A public hearing before the State Board of Education (SBOE) is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in the William B. Travis Building, Room 1-104. Testimony will be presented regarding Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency. Statutory authority is the Texas Education Code (TEC), §7.111.

4. Public Hearing on Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 130, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Career and Technical Education
A public hearing before the State Board of Education (SBOE) is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in the William B. Travis Building, Room 1-104. Testimony will be presented regarding proposed new 19 TAC Chapter 130, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Career and Technical Education, Subchapter A, Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Subchapter B, Architecture and Construction, Subchapter G, Government and Public Administration, Subchapter H, Health Science, Subchapter K, Information Technology, Subchapter L, Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security, Subchapter O, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and Subchapter P, Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. 5. Proposed Amendments to 19 TAC Chapter 74, Curriculum Requirements, Subchapter G, Graduation Requirements, Beginning with School Year 2012-2013
(Second Reading and Final Adoption)
This item presents for second reading and final adoption proposed amendments to 19 TAC Chapter 74, Curriculum Requirements, Subchapter G, Graduation Requirements, Beginning with School Year 2012-2013, in order to revise course options for students to satisfy the mathematics requirement under the Minimum High School Program, Recommended High School Program, and Distinguished Achievement Program. No changes are recommended since approved for first reading. Statutory authority for this action is the Texas Education Code (TEC), §§7.102(c)(4), 28.002, and 28.025.

6. Discussion of Pending Litigation
The State Board of Education will enter executive session in accordance with the Texas Government Code, §551.071(1)(A), to discuss pending and contemplated litigation with the general counsel, legal staff, and, if necessary, attorney(s) from the Attorney General's Office. The Committee of the Full Board will meet in Room 1-103 to discuss this item.
